New Year, New Me – B*ll*cks!

So ladies and gentlemen, it has been that time again, like all those times before. The social media-sphere is aghast at the amount of “New Year, New Me“, “2015 will be MY year“, and “Here’s to those who didn’t make it to 2015!” statuses and tweets. But let’s be honest, this happens every single god-damn year! It’s ridiculous, as more times than not, nothing changes; we like the idea of the change, but never physically do anything about it. It’s sad, but true.

Nice sentiment though…

The biggest “change” you find most people wanting to commit to is get fitter, healthier – especially after the Christmas binge period… How many calories do you think we inhale in those two weeks, through a mixture of food, sweets AND alcohol?
It can’t be good, but saying that – the amount of people I know who have commented on the mountains of food they have demolished, yet have lost a couple of pounds… I wish the worst metabolism for their future years – you know the type when they hit 25 and this belly just explodes from their frame.

Now, whilst I try to keep the personal stuff to a bare minimum on my social media, I had a pretty big eye opener of a change entering into 2015 – Simply that there is the potential for your life to be a scene from a film.
If the morning of 1st January 2015 had been filmed, it would have been from a RomCom/Chick Flick type film.
Put it simply, I was dating someone, that someone no longer felt a relationship was for them. End of.
But NO, the Universe saw it fit to belittle me even further. Not only had I basically been dumped, but my car radio was laughing at me the entire drive back to my house…

My, for all intents and purpose, ‘post-breakup‘ drive home soundtrack consisted of:
Whitney Houston – I Will Always Love You
Which I immediately changed radio stations… to:
James Taylor – You Got A Friend,
Mamma Cass – Dream a Little Dream of Me.
And to top it all off, Sam Smith – Stay With Me!

Honestly, I was looking for the hidden cameras in my car, thinking I had been punked or something. How is something like that even possible?! You can’t write that sh*t! Someone was definitely watching that and laughing their heads off!

So, I have definitely come into the New Year with a different mindset –
F*ck it. Simply f*ck it. You do what you want to do.
What is life if you hit repeat for every day you live. If you want to jump out of a plane, you go jump out of a plane.
If you want to dye your hair blue, you dye your hair blue.
It’s these things that keep our lives fresh, and exciting, and stop us questioning “What’s the point?”, “Why am I here?”, “What’s my worth?”
It’s the things you do with your life that are so small, yet not mundane in the slightest, that make your life unique.

So do it!
Just f*ck it.

‘Til next time!
